Applications for influencers in the political web are now open.

(Oakland, CA) – November 13, 2018 – Bridgit, the first Social Knowledge network, has won the award for “Disruptive Technology Culture Drivers” from the EU’s flagship Next Generation Internet program. This award rewards Bridgit for actively building a new culture around technology that breaks knowledge silos, questions the status quo, proposes solutions, connects disciplines, and targets a diverse audience. Bridgit, the only U.S.-based winner, is building a resilient, democratic, inclusive, and intelligent web through its disruptive overlay technology.

Today’s Internet is not trustworthy. In fact, Pew Research found that 71% of US adults sometimes or often see made-up political news online and 96% of U.S. adults do not trust social media. This has created significant friction for deep engagement with audiences around ideas on the web and creates a growing opportunity to garner attention that can be monetized through subscription fees, transaction fees, opt-in advertising, and content licensing.

Bridgit is powering the trusted web of the future – a Social Knowledge network that operates as an “always-on, wherever you are” browser overlay. A Next Generation Internet ecosystem, Bridgit empowers verified influencers to build a new trusted layer on top of today’s internet that connects information on an idea-by-idea basis. This new layer enables people to quickly find trustworthy information and discern what is known about any subject, anywhere on the web.

“Just as LinkedIn creates professional networks, Bridgit creates knowledge networks,” says Bridgit’s CEO and Visionkeeper, Daveed Benjamin. “We’re passionate about creating a democratized and inclusive web of the future that is symbiotic with humanity and builds our collective intelligence and wisdom. The lack thereof is certainly a root of most if not all of our problems.”

In February 2019, Bridgit will attend the Next Generation Internet awards ceremony at the 4NFY startup conference in Barcelona to meet with international press and members of the European Parliament.

Bridgit is now accepting applications from influencers in the political web who would like to be featured on Bridgit. If you are interested, please fill in our Influencer application:

About the Next Generation Internet

The Next Generation Internet initiative is the European Commission’s new flagship program, which seeks to build a more inclusive, resilient and democratic future internet by the end of the next decade. The overall mission of the Next Generation Internet initiative is to re-imagine and re-engineer the Internet for the third millennium and beyond. The initiative aims at developing a more human-centric Internet supporting values of openness, cooperation across borders, decentralisation, inclusiveness and protection of privacy; giving the control back to the users in order to increase trust in the Internet. It should provide more transparent services, more intelligence, greater involvement and participation, leading towards an Internet that is more open, robust and dependable, more interoperable and more supportive of social innovation.
